Big Question

Fred Hollows has changed the world, he dedicated his life to helping others, and he changed the indigenous peoples' lives for the better. Fred traveled the world all in the aid of others. Fred Hollows was so remarkable and selfless that he had no interest in benefiting himself and only had a drive to help others that couldn't help themselves. Fred advanced all over the world, traveling to over to over half a dozen countries from India to Nepal.

In the research process I found it challenging to gather information. I found this was because Fred being the selfless man that he was he asked that the Fred Hollows Foundation would be less about his accomplishments and more about donations and raising awareness for eye disorders. He wanted it to be another way to help the community. But overall, the research side of things has been no problem at all, as there is some more information on Fred. The foundation that Fred founded was the main source of my information as it was written by one of Fred's closest friends, who spent time with Fred in Vietnam and Nepal. I was also fueled by a website called TimeToast which was the source I used for the information on my Diary Entries of Fred. There was so much information that sometimes it was hard for me to choose which website to use as one of my sources. Ranging from timelines to mind maps and even maps of where he traveled.

Fred Hollows is one of the most inspirational people on earth. He dedicated his life to the wellbeing, healthcare and even wealth care of others. He had such a strong opinion of the things that he believed in, that he refused the Order of Australia award, on 15th of August 1985. Because he saw how bad the government was handling the indigenous healthcare. He believed that they only rewarded him to make themselves look like they care whereas they had no interest at all. On the 20th of October 1992 Fred Hollows set up the Fred Hollows Foundation to help preserve his vision and in hope convince others to continue his work. As a child through to adulthood Fred was heavily influenced by his father. His father was a very kind and caring man who was the main reason to Freds strong religious beliefs because he was strong himself. He was also encouraging and supported him to be in social activism. As Fred's dad was an engineer, he was always being approached by problems with his work and Fred saw him facing them and was inspired to take on his challenges as well. Fred won so many awards from, In 2004 he was entered into the Hall of Fame for his contribution in the ‘Advancement of Aboriginal Healthcare.’ Also, in 1990 he was named the ‘Australian of the Year.’

Fred Hollows is without a doubt notable. He traveled the world saving lives and curing blindness. Fred was an amazing man who used his life to help others and not himself. We consider him notable because he changed millions of lives, he helped, and he was a beacon of hope and inspiration to the whole world. Fred was an amazing man and still is even though he has passed his vision never will. Hollows inspired so many people to not give up and to continue his work and believe in his truly amazing work. And he is defiantly notable.

Freds life was full of ups and downs, challenges and straightforward things. But he always pushed through overcoming everything that was thrown towards him. So, he was a hard worker, although he did believe that his father was looking down on him and was helping by Fred's side. All of Fred's hard work and dedication paid off. Changing thousands of human lives and how we view all eye disorders, and all of this was for the better.

Fred was always helping, when he was a kid to the day he died. Searching for others to help who couldn't help themselves. Hollows said, “Every time we restore someone’s sight, it also brings back their independence, ability to work, or get and education." And he was right, every time he performed that surgery on someone, he changed their lives forever. I know that Fred Hollows is one in a billion man who was a gift to earth, but I think that he was too hard on himself. From example he would give himself no time to spend helping himself and only helped others. He Fred was such an amazing man, but I think that if he allowed for him to help himself occasionally, he would be just that one bit better.

I know that Fred has changed the world and that he will forever be remembered for his unforgettable work. He is such an inspirational and kind and caring that is quite literary a perfect man. He is a wonderful man. Even his most famous quote proves this- "I believe that the basic attribute of mankind is to look after one another." This is a perfect example of Fred's personality, as he said himself. Fred has inspired me to push through any challenge I'm am faced with, and to never give up in what I truly believe in. Although I aspire to be like Fred I don’t really share anything in common with him. One connections I can make between our lives is that I want an interesting job, that really does make a difference in the world.

In conclusion, Fred has changed and saved so many lives, he sacrificed his life for the benefit of others, and not only did he change lives he changed the world and the perspective in which we see it.
